Herring Gull Asserts Ownership
We approached the dock and heard a loud harangue. The Herring Gull declared its ownership of a Dungeness Crab carcass it stole from another gull. We photographed while the Gull scolded. Sounds of Gull displeasure followed us up the dock. If there’s a moral to this brief tale, it is a Herring Gull is fine with stealing from another resident of the docks, but is not at all fine with being a victim of such an action.
