Black Phoebe
is a flycatcher and a year around resident of the North Coast. I saw this bird while walking the bay trail near the new osprey nest box and then I saw it at the Humboldt Bay Wildlife Refuge. See this link: Humboldt Bay Wildlife Refuge
When we are out walking at the same time, I’ll show you where to look for the Black Phoebe.
Not many flycatchers are found in Humboldt County, but we do have one. Black Phoebe is a flycatcher. It darts out from its perch to snap up an insect in flight and circles around to land safely on its perch.
